"Eyeballs, knives and severed fingers. What do these symbols have in common? Not much, but they probably don't belong on gift wrapping paper. These symbols form part of a larger library of imagery titled "Smoor", which translates as "smother". This can either refer to something being overwhelmed or choked, or it can refer to a more Afrikaans take on things where the word is used in the phrase "smoor verlief '', which translates to something like "head over heels in love". Either way, there is some tension in the word "smoor" which seemed to suit the imagery."
